August is 3

On the first,
August turned THREE!

He was very excited to have his own birthday (after watching his sister and Dad each have one.)

He knew right what to do. First off, birthday donuts.

He even got to eat off a STEELERS plate his Grammie and Grandpa Weyand had sent from Pennsylvania.

Life was good!

Everyone likes the birthday donuts!
After the girls got off to school, August and I went swimming at the Legacy Center pool. August loved the 15 minutes we had before the Lifeguard turned all the splash park water on. Now I know we need to be done swimming by 11:00am, not just barely arriving.

August was VERY excited about his cake. He kept asking all morning where his Lightening Mcqueen cake was. He stayed by me the whole time the cake was coming together. Paige loved to help taste everything and make sure it was yummy.
August was very patient waiting for the time to open presents, it kind of surprised me. When it was time, he excitedly got right into it. It was so fun to see all his expressions and jumps for joy!
He was very pleased with the turnout...LOTS of cars!

He had been asking for another Steeler shirt since he grew out of the last one Larkin bought for him. So, with lots of help from PA Grandparents, his wishes came true!!!
He L.O.V.E.S. his new Steelers jammies.
(Thanks Mom and Dad for sending those!
We are saving the other shirt for next season, when it will fit a bit better.)

We took everyone to McDonalds for his birthday dinner and got him a happy meal (a treat in itself!) And, you'll never guess that the toy inside was...another car! He was in heaven.

We sang Happy Birthday, ate the cake and ice cream and all went to bed. It was a lovely day. But just before bed, August presented us all with a little dance. He's hysterical when he starts dancing. We always get a good laugh when he turns it on.
Happy Birthday Little Man!
We love you!

Abby Turns Eight

Yesterday was Abby's birthday. She is now 8. She was soooo excited!

At school, her teacher had a special something for her to do each day this week. The first day she brought a poster about herself. She did a great job didn't she? She had fun planning, writing and decorating it! The other days she brought a favorite book to read to the class, a bag of something to estimate with during math, an idea of a few things to graph about and then one day each kid in the class drew a picture and wrote a little something they compiled in a birthday book for her. It has been a fun week.

Here she is first thing in the morning, eating her birthday donut breakfast
We brought donuts to school that afternoon for her to share with her class and then she came home with me in the car. The best part was, now that she is eight, she doesn't HAVE to sit in a carseat anymore. She was so happy to have a chance in the FRONT SEAT! (Remember those days? Shotgun! I don't dare tell my kids about it for fear that will be all I hear for the next how many years of my life...)
Abby had to wait about 30 minutes for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive so she could open her presents. This is her jumping up and down for joy that the time had actually arrived!
All her wishes came true as she opened present after present. She was very happy. I should say that there are still a couple wishes she is determined to see through. She wishes every year that she can have a "real" magic wand and wings. I hope someday even those will come true...
The one thing Abby was certain of was that she wanted a milkshake, and one all to herself that she didn't have to share. It was then decided upon that a milkshake cake would be prefect. Here is what we came up with. I think it turned out pretty great! So did Abby.
We think you are great, little miss eight!
Happy Birthday!

August in February

My little guy turned 2 years old yesterday.
We woke up to a freezing house, the igniter on the furnace had cracked during the night.
It was 57degrees inside, which for us, is practically freezing.
We made hot chocolate and August shivered through breakfast determined to eat his donuts. He said, "August's birthday, August's birthday over and over."

The furnace guy came and fixed the heat by 10:30 that morning, thank goodness for fast service, and the house started to feel a bit better. I watch a little boy and girl a couple times during the week and so they were with us that morning. Daxton and August had fun helping me make the cake. I think the beaters were a hit!

What cute little guys!

Later, after a long nap and the girls and Dad were home from school, we opened presents. August was hysterical. He wanted to stop and play with each new toy before moving on to the next. The girls had a hard time with this. They wanted him to get a move on it. They have different approaches when it comes to gift opening.
August ended up with way too much stuff, but he loves every single thing (except the shirt...he didn't even bother to finish opening that gift.)

August loves cars. He is pretty much obsessed with cars. It's pretty fun. So, it really wasn't too hard to decide what cake to make. A CAR CAKE. When he woke up from his nap and saw his cake, he was very interested in it. He sat at the table and looked at it and talked all about it and even had a small taste of it. He sat there and said over and over, "August's car cake. August's birthday, car cake, donut." It was funny to listen to. I think he really liked it.

This picture isn't the best quality, I cropped it way too much and then blew it up, but just look at that face! He was going to make sure every bit of that cake got from his spoon into his mouth!

It was a fun day and I think August knew something special was going on. We have had a few birthdays in the past few weeks, so he kind of got the hang of it and knew what to do.
We sure love you August.

Happy Birthday Abby

Abby turned 7 this past week.

We celebrated that day with dinner and shakes at JCW's...
a family favorite place to eat.

Then, a couple days later she had a party.

It was two years in the waiting, so we wanted to make sure it was memorable.

Abby picked music for her theme. She also helped decide just how her invitations were to look.

Mom made a guitar cake. Green. As requested.

And all Abby's friends came to help celebrate.

We ate pizza, carrots, oranges and jello jigglers and everyone's favorite part, soda to drink.

Those poor kids. I think they drank more than they ate...

We played lots of fun music games, this one was a balloon toss game that when the music stopped, the person with the balloon had to throw it in the air and call out a number. Each kid had a number on their shirts and they were to catch the balloon before it hit the ground. The best part though, was watching them all dance while the music was playing.

Another fun game we played was pass the bag, like hot potato. If you had the bag when the music stopped, you had to reach in and pull out the first thing you touched. You were then to wear whatever it was and at the end, prizes were awarded for the funniest combinations.

Of course, time for presents is always a hit, especially for this birthday girl! She loved everything. August won't give up the Zuzu pet she got. He absolutely loves that thing!

It was such a fun day and a great time together.
We love you little Abby!
