Shake It!

(I wrote this post last week, but I can't get the video to post...it's a long story. Anyway, Larkin mentioned posting video to facebook a couple days ago and so last night I tried it and it worked. So, if you are on facebook, go on over the have a look, it's pretty funny!)

Ever since August could walk he has done this little shake thing. He just gets up randomly and shakes his little body. It used to be whenever he was really happy, but now it's just whenever and only if he feels like it. It's hard to get on video because it's so random and the first is always the best. When we ask him to do it again, it's just not the same.

Yesterday though, we caught him. It was Paige's birthday and so I had the camera out taking pictures of her opening presents. August went up to his Monster Truck and pressed the buttons to make the music come on. He's been doing this lately. Once the music starts he runs fast and jumps to a stop posing in some sort of cool "move." So, without him knowing, I switched on the video and caught him in action. Enjoy...we do almost daily!

Paige, now 6!

Yesterday was Paige's birthday!
She is SIX.
One of my favorite things about Paige is watching her blow out candles. She has an overbite and when she blows the air goes straight up to her bangs and flutters them about. This is so frustrating for Paige, but she worked hard and she was very happy when she finally got that candle out! We love this girl!

That was breakfast.

After breakfast she had school and August and I brought donuts to share with her class. It was cute to see her at the center of attention and asnwering questions her classmates asked during her special time in the teacher's chair.
What's your favorite stuffed animal? ..........Bugwah (this is the name of her girl gorilla that she just got. Her other gorilla, a boy, is named Boogie.)
What's your favorite animal? ..............I just answered that!
What's your favorite food? ..............Buttered noodles!
What's your favortie treat? ............August yelled out, "Chocolate balls!" before Paige even had a chance to answer. He was up sitting with her in the chair. It was fun to watch.

We came home and she and Chelsea had lunch together, buttered noodles and mango, on the side. Yum!

Then, I layed down for a quick snooze before finishing up the cake (a piggy) and getting the house in order for an afternoon of birthday fun.......

........and somewhere in there, August got his thunb closed in the girls' bedroom door by sweet little Paige.

It's looked way too scary for me to tackle on my own, so I scooped him up after leaving a note for my older two girls and sending Paige to Chelsea's house and headed for the instacare! The nurse suggested that we go to the ER since they would have ways of sedating him if that's what needed to happen, so I thought I'd better do that. Luckily Larkin got a hold of us and met us over at the ER. It turns out he didn't even need stitches, but they took an xray to make sure he hadn't broken a bone or damaged his growth plate. All fine. The ER took hours, so I decided to head home and try to quickly get that cake frosted and the house picked up.

I think Paige thought she wouldn't be able to wait another minute to open her presents, but then Dad called and said they were on their way home. Perfect. We had time to open presents...and Paige was very excited!

We thank cousin Shauna and her girls for this one!
I love that everyone has fun on a birthday, not just the birthday person.
And this has become a Grammie legacy. She wraps her gifts well, with lots of tape. It was so funny to watch Paige try and try to get that present open. I loved that I caught the look on her face when she needed to take a little break. It was classic. She was determined though, and she did get that present open!
Thanks Grammie and Granpa Weyand for the fun gifts and money!

So here are a few pictures of Paige's "excitement!" She had a long wait, but a fabulous fun few minutes getting those gifts open! We are glad you enjoyed them!

We quickly hopped in the car and headed to McDonalds for a lovely dinner. The kids were in heaven.

We came home and shared cake and ice cream with some neighbor friends who had bribed Paige into letting them come with promises of a gift. She was happy to have them, of course! We all were!

Happy 6th year of life Paige. We are SOOOOO happy you are part of our family. We love you!

Highlights

So, the day after Larkin agreed it was time to cut August's hair, I caught the boy in a good mood and he sat there pretty good for me while I chopped away. I figure with curls, you can't go too wrong. It's so refreshing to see his face again instead of the halo of poof that used to surround his head! I LOVE IT! Although, this was back on Valentine's day and he's getting close to needing another chop!

Speaking of Valentine's Day, the Valentine's fairy finally decided to show up just before bed that day and the kids were very excited to see what treats he had left for them! Thanks little fairy!

I was released as the cubmaster a month ago and I'm going to miss all the fun cheers and silly awards and funny costumes and stuff we got to do there. It will be awhile before August will be a scout and we'll get to go again. Ashley loved going with me too--all the boys her age were there. I think she secretly wished she could be a scout! They presented me with this cute SWEET TREAT at my last meeting which happened to be the Blue and Gold. Isn't it just so cute! I love cute things and I just had to share this with everyone. Jenn Christensen made this for me and had the leaders sign a thank you card. I was very surprised to get such a "normal" gift from the scouts. Thanks!

I had a birthday last month and it was a fun one. Larkin ordered a Costco cake for the celebration. He got to choose what picture and message to have them put on and after deciding between two ideas, this is the one that won. It was pretty funny. Larkin is always so...creative. Thanks hun! It was a good laugh, and quite delicious.

Larkin has started playing indoor soccer again after a year break. It's so fun to go and watch the games, especially now that the kids are older and can run around by themselves. I actually get to see most the game now. The games have also been in the mornings this time instead of late at night, so we've been able to go. Larkin scores LOTS of goals. He's really good at it. In this game I think he scored 5 of the 6 points. It's hard to get action shots, but I think these turned out pretty good...

My Soccer Stud!

So, all Ashley wanted last year for her birthday was a pair of OOBIES (the shoes in the picture.) They look like a slipper, and they are very wild. Paige was thrilled beyond belief when we found a pair for her at DI a couple months ago. They are sort of popular with the kids at school. Anyway, August thinks they are pretty funny and I caught him with them on the other day. He even had his cute hat on, which doesn't happen often, so I grabbed a couple quick pictures. What a sweet little boy!

So, there are the highlights from the last few weeks. If you put all the hours of watching NCAA basketball in there you pretty much know it all. I should also mention that August is potty trained, which is still quite a miracle if you ask me. And, my sister Mindy and husband Joey had a little boy last week named Aaron Joseph Hobson! What more could you ask for! (Just wished she lived MUCH closer...) Oh and one more thing, Ashley passed off all her times tables! This too is a small miracle. We are so happy for her!

Signing off...until next time
