Abby's Baptism

 What a sweetheart. Abby was so excited about her baptism day.

She decided to wear the same dress I wore when I was baptized almost 30 years ago!!

We bought her a new dress for the occasion, but this is the one she ended up wearing that day. How fun!

After a year or so I'll bundle it up and mail it to Mindy. Maybe her Kaela will want to wear it also when she turns eight.

Abby and Dad had to leave pretty early that morning. Mom was busy making the last batch of cinnamon rolls for afterwards and trying to get the rest of the gang ready and hopoing to leave the house in some sort of order knowing everyone would be over after. Somehow we all managed and even got there on time!

We even got a picture of us all, the family that is. In all the hustle, I didn't even realize our friends were waiting inside the foyer and didn't make the picture. I was so bummed about that. We have such great friends who came out to support Abby and we are so thankful for the family who arranged to be there too!

 We all came home and had cinnamon rolls, muffins, fruit and treats.

I wish I had taken more pictures, but here are a few of the ones that turned out.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here's a happy Valentine's Day wish to you!

Paige let me play with her hair this morning (I saw a little girl this weekend with hair like this and thought it was so cute) and this is what we ended up with. Not too bad, ehh?

The girls were SO excited for school today, with all the Valentine's party stuff going on. They had their valentines all made out ready to give to their classmates.

Abby needed a box for her party and after I suggested we just wrap up a shoe box in cute wrapping paper and tie it with cute bows, she came up with this idea. A horse. Glad it came together. She was so happy.

August is 3

On the first,

August turned THREE!

He was very excited to have his own birthday (after watching his sister and Dad each have one.)

He knew right what to do. First off, birthday donuts.

He even got to eat off a STEELERS plate his Grammie and Grandpa Weyand had sent from Pennsylvania.

Life was good!

Everyone likes the birthday donuts!

After the girls got off to school, August and I went swimming at the Legacy Center pool. August loved the 15 minutes we had before the Lifeguard turned all the splash park water on. Now I know we need to be done swimming by 11:00am, not just barely arriving.

August was VERY excited about his cake. He kept asking all morning where his Lightening Mcqueen cake was. He stayed by me the whole time the cake was coming together. Paige loved to help taste everything and make sure it was yummy.

August was very patient waiting for the time to open presents, it kind of surprised me. When it was time, he excitedly got right into it. It was so fun to see all his expressions and jumps for joy!

He was very pleased with the turnout...LOTS of cars!

He had been asking for another Steeler shirt since he grew out of the last one Larkin bought for him. So, with lots of help from PA Grandparents, his wishes came true!!!

We took everyone to McDonalds for his birthday dinner and got him a happy meal (a treat in itself!) And, you'll never guess that the toy inside was...another car! He was in heaven.

We sang Happy Birthday, ate the cake and ice cream and all went to bed. It was a lovely day. But just before bed, August presented us all with a little dance. He's hysterical when he starts dancing. We always get a good laugh when he turns it on.

Happy Birthday Larkin

35 Years later...

  

Happy Birthday!

We had a fun day yesterday after Larkin got home from work and the girls from school.

We watched Larkin open his presents

and then headed out to Orem for an evening at Trafalga.

This is my favorite picture.

They have a 4D little theater there with short little 3D movies and then the chair moves and jolts and wind blows and all that to make it 4D. It was awesome. We weren't sure August was going to like it, but he held on to his Dad and Abby's hands the whole time and seemed to love it.

Don't you just love that face? What a kid.

After all that fun, we went to the Creamery at BYU, one of our favorite places to eat.

It was soooo yummy.

We didn't get home until quite late, but a few of the kids still managed to fit in some cake waiting at home.

Happy Birthday Man

Abby Turns Eight

 Yesterday was Abby's birthday. She is now 8. She was soooo excited!

At school, her teacher had a special something for her to do each day this week. The first day she brought a poster about herself. She did a great job didn't she? She had fun planning, writing and decorating it! The other days she brought a favorite book to read to the class, a bag of something to estimate with during math, an idea of a few things to graph about and then one day each kid in the class drew a picture and wrote a little something they compiled in a birthday book for her. It has been a fun week.

We brought donuts to school that afternoon for her to share with her class and then she came home with me in the car. The best part was, now that she is eight, she doesn't HAVE to sit in a carseat anymore. She was so happy to have a chance in the FRONT SEAT! (Remember those days? Shotgun! I don't dare tell my kids about it for fear that will be all I hear for the next how many years of my life...)

Abby had to wait about 30 minutes for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive so she could open her presents. This is her jumping up and down for joy that the time had actually arrived!

All her wishes came true as she opened present after present. She was very happy. I should say that there are still a couple wishes she is determined to see through. She wishes every year that she can have a "real" magic wand and wings. I hope someday even those will come true...

The one thing Abby was certain of was that she wanted a milkshake, and one all to herself that she didn't have to share. It was then decided upon that a milkshake cake would be prefect. Here is what we came up with. I think it turned out pretty great! So did Abby.

We think you are great, little miss eight!

Merry Christmas!

Prince Frog

Abby's 2nd Grade teacher loves to have the kids perform plays.
Abby was chosed to be in one called The Prince Frog.

She was Lilly Paddington, a girl who goes out looking to catch a pet frog.

After being told it is nearly implossible to catch a frog by her friends and brother, she wanders out to the pond and meets a strange man sitting on a bench.

His name was Prince Albert Van Hoppinger.

After Lilly reaches in her backpack for a treat and pulls out a hershey kiss, the Prince promises Lilly that if she gives him the kiss then she will for sure catch a frog.

Lilly gives it a try and sure enough the Prince turns into a frog and hops right into her jar.

When she gets home and her brother asks how in the world she caught one, she says,

"Oh, that was easy, I gave a prince a kiss and he turned into a frog."

The class had a contest to see who would be in charge of the background. Everyone drew a picture of what they thought it should be and then they voted on the one they liked best. Abby and another boy's drawing were chosen and they worked together on the background.It turned out great!

She did a great job and it was so fun to watch.
